WIN 7 Service Pack 1 Issue!

We have come across a know issue with windows 7 service pack 1 which effects windows 7 professional 64bit only.

When the update is applied via windows updates the pc comes up with a fatal error which cannot be recovered!

Please turn off automatic updates to avoid getting this error, we have been informed that Microsoft are aware of this issue and working on a fix.

Sophos Upgrade

Support for Sophos Anti-Virus 7 will end on March 31st, 2011, and customers will learn about this retirement at the beginning of October via email.

However, you can upgrade to Endpoint 9.5 for free to ensure continued support. In addition, upgrading also gives them access to many new features, enabling them to:

Microsoft are ending support for some versions of Windows

Microsoft are ending the support for some of their operating systems, please see below for effected versions...

· Support for Windows Vista without any service packs ended on April 13, 2010.

· Support for Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) will end on July 13, 2010.*

If you're running one of these versions after support ends, you won't get security updates for Windows.

Who has to switch to online VAT Returns?

From 1st April 2010 you will have to submit your VAT Returns online and pay any VAT due electronically if either of the following applies:

• you have an annual turnover of £100,000 or more (exclusive of VAT)
• you register or should have registered for VAT on or after 1st April 2010 (regardless of your turnover)

If you fall into either of the groups mentioned above, you will have to file all your VAT Returns online (including nil and repayment returns) even if your turnover drops below £100,000 in the future.

Penrith Co-op choose Sage 200 software from Integrity Office

Penrith Co-op, a very successful and independent co-operative serving Cumbria and Upper Weardale, has chosen Sage 200 Financials from Integrity Office Limited.

Forthcoming VAT update

Increase in standard rate UK VAT (to 17.5%) on 1 January 2010

The UK Government announced earlier this year that the rate of Standard VAT in the UK will increase back to 17.5% after it was temporarily reduced to 15% on 1 December 2008.

VAT Filing Online

The HMRC VAT online service helps businesses to file VAT returns quickly and make electronic payments. VAT management will be switching to online filing and electronic payment only from April 2010. If turnover is more than £100,000, businesses will have to file their VAT return online for accounting periods that start on or after 1 April 2010. (source: www.hmrc.gov.uk ).
